Here are the boxes laid out before they were filled. They are patio boxes, 4 2×2’s, and we put them up on bricks for better drainage.

Here is the lineup of Mel’s Mix ingredients - and my hubby scooping them into containers. The book says to use a tarp - but this was less messy and surprisingly fairly quick to do - my 2 year old had a blast with the steer manure. Good thing that stuff is sanitized.

And here is the man with the powertool - it actually worked really well for mixing everything, and there was a lot less dust than the tarp method in the book. Not much dust at all actually. OK I never would of thought of using this drill - that’s what hubby is here for!!
And here are the completed boxes, filled with Mel’s Mix (1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 compost) and with the grids laid on top (after soaking with water, layering with more mix and soaking more). They are all ready to be planted!
