Maybe it’s because I’m in the fruit craving stage of my pregnancy but I’m starting to wish I could plant all my sfg boxes with strawberries! I have 5 squares already planted with them and 1 large container - and I’m looking for another one. I’d really like one like my Mom used to have - the terra cotta pot with holes jutting out for all the different strawberry plants - but can’t find one anywhere. Post a comment if you have any suggestions as to where I can get one.
My square foot boxes are all planted - I will post the pics hopefully tomorrow - Everything is doing great, especially when I put some extra compost around some of the stragglers. It has rained a ton here in Utah lately and been great for my plants - and finally it wasn’t cold while raining and it didn’t turn into snow or hail! The days are slowly but surely getting warmer.
I miss the roses from my old house - I had about 12 and was really attached to them when we decided to move, and of course this house has no roses. Well it’s fun anyway because I get to pick exactly the ones I want - and I am crazy for purple/mauve/lavender ones. Today I found a really gorgeous one called Purple Tiger - striped just like the name says. Can’t wait to post pics when it really gets some blooms going.

I can’t wait to see your strawberries teaming with fruit! My kids are snacking on strawberries from the store right now and it makes me think I’d love to grow some. Unfortunately growing up they were simply boarder plants for the rest of the garden beds. It would be interesting to see what they look like in a SFG system. I hear Tri-Star work well here in my climate.
Btw, Congrats on your new addition to the family! Two is so different than one! It’s wonderful.
Sinfonian - I can already taste those strawberries. I got tri-star, ozark, quinault, and ft. laramie varieties to try out and compare. I can barely remember what real strawberries taste like its been so long!
Thanks for the congrats - we’re excited.
