My backyard is full of sunflowers - they are everywhere. Little brown and orange ones, huge yellow ones. Above is one about to burst into bloom. They are gorgeous huge vibrant things growing like weeds everywhere attracting bees like no other and I love ‘em - though not as much as hubby does, who planted them. My garden is growing so slowly and I’m still not sure why. [click to continue...]

The heat of the summer is fully here - and although some of my sfg squares are empty most are full. The strawberries that didn’t produce all June are finally fruiting - and the June-bearers are done. The beets seem to be doing good but I am having a hard time telling them apart from the swiss chard. Beets should be ready for eating soon and I can’t wait - it’s taken forever!! My tomato plants bottom leaves have been dying and turning yellow but the Radiator Charlie plant is starting to blossom, and the Cherokee purple [click to continue...]

My 8 lb 6 oz 18 inch long baby girl was born on Saturday (her due date!) after about 10 hours of labor. I had her natural which was painful but only the last hour or so. So excited she is finally here!!! [click to continue...]
