Fall Planting

Now that the summer heat is starting to taper off a bit I’ve started thinking of fall planting. All the nursery stock around here is mostly gone so I’ve started thinking about starting seedlings again. Future plans

Sunflowers

I told my sister in-law today that next year I want a whole 4×4 full of strawberries, and another full of tomatoes. Maybe at least half of one for beets. And the one I have now? Squash, peppers, and other climbers. It’s times like this I start wishing I lived in Florida or some other place I could garden year round. But this is where I live so guess I’ll make do…grrr. Overrun by pumpkins and sunflowers

My backyard is full of sunflowers - they are everywhere. Little brown and orange ones, huge yellow ones. Above is one about to burst into bloom. They are gorgeous huge vibrant things growing like weeds everywhere attracting bees like no other and I love ‘em - though not as much as hubby does, who planted them.
